Only 19 People Officially Registered for Gambling Addiction in Kazakhstan

2024-07-18 11:16 Kazakhstan
According to the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, only 19 people are officially registered with the diagnosis of "gambling addict". This was reported by Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Miras Tulebayev at a briefing at the CCS.

According to the agency representative, Kazakhstanis do not go to state clinics, since registration may threaten them with failure to enter a university and problems with employment.

"It is no secret that gambling addicts do not seek help from state clinics. The reason is the dynamic registration of such patients. Registered citizens cannot enter a university, serve in the army or find employment," Tulebayev informed.

Moreover, most patients "pay a lot of money" to undergo rehabilitation in private clinics, which guarantee them anonymity.

Now, thanks to the new amendments to the law on gambling business, anonymity will be provided to Kazakhstanis in state institutions.
