Three children are suspected of sexualized violence against a five-year-old girl in Kostanay. This was reported by the head of the “Don’t Be Silent” Foundation, Dina Smailova.
A woman who was raising a five-year-old daughter alone contacted the foundation. According to her, the girl had been subjected to group sexualized violence by three children – aged 8, 12 and 13.
"On July 6, a mother bought her daughter a bicycle, wanting to surprise her. While she was assembling it with a neighbour, a boy she knew from the neighborhood took the girl behind the house. The mother ran to look for her daughter, but did not find her, and lost a lot of time until she saw her walking with a bag of toys, all dirty and disheveled. The mother got scared and scolded her daughter in fear, which she now deeply regrets. This is a very common reaction of many parents, which is why psychological and legal education is needed! The girl withdrew and did not immediately tell about what happened. Everything came to light on July 20, when the girl told her grandfather. They immediately filed a police report," the foundation reported.
The girl was taken far into the bushes by three boys who began to commit violent acts of a sexual nature.
"The child was undressed, two kids held her, she screamed and resisted, they hit her in the temple with a stone. The boys touched the girl in her intimate places, tried to push reeds into her, then all three forced her to take their genitals in her mouth. They gave her a bag of toys to keep her quiet. The girl told her grandfather all of this two weeks later. To remind you, the girl is only five years old, and the juvenile aggressors are 8, 12 and 13 years old," writes Dina Smailova.
The police ordered examinations, conducted interrogations, invited a state lawyer and a psychologist from the school. The children, as the Foundation claims, admitted their guilt.
The family faced a number of problems. Firstly, the inaction of the state lawyer, according to the mother. Secondly, children under 14 are not subject to criminal liability, therefore, the case will not go to court, so a lawyer is needed. Thirdly, it is important that not only the investigation works, but also all services.
"Parents of children who have committed violence must be held accountable for improper upbringing through the court! The court must collect from them not only a fine in favor of the state, but also moral damages in favor of the victimized child and her family. In addition, we believe that children need to be prescribed a course of psychotherapy, they must work with their aggression, find out where the children got to know about such actions, perhaps they were corrupted by adults? Older children should be sent to a specialized boarding school for a year for correction and treatment for sexualized aggression! If all these measures are not taken now, then in the future these children will be in prison, and a group of criminals awaits us. At this age, children have already committed a particularly serious crime as a group of people, and we must understand that impunity will lead to new crimes," Smailova believes.
The injured girl also needs the help of a good specialist, as does her mother, because this is a dangerous psychological trauma, and if it remains untreated, there will be consequences.
"We ask lawyers or attorneys, as well as psychologists or psychotherapists from Kostanay to respond and help the mother, she still has a nine-month-old baby, she cannot cope on her own," writes Smailova.
The police reported that an investigation had been launched. “Three children have been identified. Due to the suspects not having reached the age for criminal liability, no preventive measure was chosen for them,” the report says.
The Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dinara Zakiyeva, gave an official comment regarding the situation with the rape of a 5-year-old girl by minors in Kostanay, a correspondent for the Kazinform agency reports.
