Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law on domestic violence

Kazakhstan
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on ensuring the rights of women and the safety of children” and “On introducing amendments and additions to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on administrative offenses on ensuring the rights of women and the safety of children”.

Recall that in his addresses to the people of Kazakhstan dated March 16, 2022 and September 1, 2023, the Head of State ordered to implement tougher penalties for violence against women and children.

The added amendments were hotly debated in the society. Members of the National Foundation, non-governmental organizations, the National Commission on Family and Demographic Policy, the National Center for Human Rights and a representative for children's rights participated in the meetings of the chambers of Parliament.
