Gambling addict stole and spent 30 million tenge

Kazakhstan
A 29-year-old employee stole almost 30 million tenge from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The court in Aktobe sentenced him to jail for 6 years.

Aniyar Sadykov headed the financial service of the financial, documentation and logistics support group of the Western Regional Military Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reports Diapazon.

He was responsible for the safety of funds and material assets in the cash register, for their economical use, organized accounting reports and had the right of second signature. According to the accusation, he fraudulently took possession of the digital signature key of the head of the Western Regional Military Investigation Department and, with its help, transferred millions from the budget to his bank account. From June 2022 to May 2023, he stole 23 million 969 thousand tenge from the budget. After that, he decided to compensate for the damage by earning money through betting at a bookmaker's office. However, in order to get money for bets, he decided to use someone else’s digital signature again and illegally transferred about another 6 million budget tenge to his bank accounts.

As a result, the total material damage to the Ministry of Internal Affairs amounted to around 30 million tenge. The dishonest law enforcement officer was tried in the military court of the Aktobe garrison. He fully admitted his guilt, paid off the damage and entered into a procedural agreement with the prosecutor's office that would guarantee him a relatively mild punishment.

The military court of the Aktobe garrison sentenced Aniyar Sadykov to 6 years in prison, deprived him of the military rank of junior sergeant and banned him from working in the civil service for life.
