World
A rally was held in New York in support of women's rights and the law criminalizing domestic violence in Kazakhstan, Kazinform's own correspondent reports.

About 100 people from among our compatriots, as well as citizens of the USA, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, who are not indifferent to the topic of domestic violence, which is a problem for all CIS countries, gathered in New York’s Times Square.

The event was organized by our compatriots Dinara Zhanpeisova and Asel Darybaeva, who advocate for women's rights.

Dinara Zhanpeisova informed about the goals of the rally in New York. The protesters support the adoption of the Law on the criminalization of domestic violence in Kazakhstan and ask the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to sign the law without making any changes.

The rally participants also demand a fair court decision in the case of Saltanat Nukenova, who died as a result of domestic violence.

In addition, the protesters are calling for a review of over 30 cases in which women were killed.

Similar rallies with the abovementioned goals are currently taking place in San Francisco, as well as in European cities such as Milan, Paris, Barcelona and London.
